Campaign! at Stoke Mandeville Spinal Injuries Unit
Stoke Mandeville is often referred to as ‘the birthplace of the Paralympic games’.
Young people from the St Francis Ward in the Spinal Injuries Unit were inspired by this statement to find out more about the Paralympic Games. They discovered that the ‘Para’ in ‘Paralympics’ surprisingly stands for ‘Parallel’.
Working with musician Tom Billington they have written and recorded a song ‘Parallel Lines’ which asks lots of questions about whether this word ‘Parallel’ is a positive or negative thing and raises awareness of the ‘Paralympics’ and its real meaning.
This is their campaign – Parallel Lines
