Collaborations!
New creative teams for inspirational new work...
Collaborations! is a groundbreaking project that will bring together a series of new creative teams, each comprising an established deaf or disabled artist, an emerging deaf or disabled artist and a deaf or disabled athlete, working in partnership with international artists or networks in the production of thought-provoking and inspirational new art work.
Young people in the region and internationally will be engaged as partners and collaborators throughout this process and will be invited to respond to and inform the work through workshop and outreach events. Collaborations! will bring together 13 new teams between now and 2012 (4 in 2010 and 2011 and 5 in 2012) and engage a minimum of 500 young people in the creative process.
Collaborations! will not only produce exceptional new pieces of work to be performed / exhibited across the region, but also help to create the next generation of young disabled cultural leaders, new international partnerships and commissions, and help to confront taboos, challenge perceptions and develop understanding of disability.
