Playground to Podium

Helping to create the next generation of disabled athletes...

Playground to Podium is a programme for young disabled athletes offering a framework to enhance existing player pathways and provide increased opportunities to achieve at the top.

Playground to Podium will seek to create the next generation of elite disabled athletes in the South East through three strands of work:

  1. Bursaries: to assist individuals with those expenses that are incurred in training and competition such as equipment, travel, accommodation, coaching and physiotherapy
  2. Development funds: to support clubs in the delivery of disability sports by assisting in such areas as providing equipment, facility improvements and upgrades, fees for venue or equipment hire, coaching or transport costs and costs associated with sporting competitions or events that contributes to athlete development & retention within the Playground to Podium context
  3. Workforce development fund: to provide training that will up skill the workforce directly supporting Playground to Podium in the South East. This could include coaching and officials courses as well as disability awareness training.

Playground to Podium is a CCC project being delivered as part of the Accentuate programme by our colleagues at the English Federation of Disability Sports.
